A new location and enhancements for our dedicated Comfort Care room means residents and their families receiving palliative care services here at St. Luke now have several amenities available to help improve their experience.

Our new Comfort Care Suite is located on the fifth floor in our high-rise and has been completely renovated to better accommodate visitors.

Located on our Fifth floor the newly renovated suite is a converted “double”, able to easily accommodate visitors for extended periods. The room received a decorative “Make over” and   features a mini-refrigerator, microwave and other supplies on hand for use when needed. The location also offers families privacy to be together.

The Comfort Care Suite renovations, as well expanded Pastoral Care services available across our campus, and new palliative care training resources for staff are made possible by a generous grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.

Donna Rose, Director of Pastoral Care and Tara Searor, RN, both members of our Palliative Care team, review new information made available to residents and families receiving Comfort Care services.

"To continue to enhance the care we provide we have refocused our efforts on our palliative care services for residents facing a serious illness or in their final stages of life, and their families,” said Donna Rose, Pastoral Care Coordinator.

Rose added, “Every department plays an important role as a part of our care team to ensure the physical comfort and wellbeing of residents and their families are met, and by addressing their social, personal and emotional needs. In the coming months we will be offering training opportunities and resources for staff to enhance their palliative care knowledge-base so as to continue to provide high quality care during this stage of life’s journey.”
